SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College will honor veterans at its 30th annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons on the ϳԹϾW-Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road, and a reception will follow. The public is invited to attend.
Scouting America Troop 310 from Chatham will post the colors. The program includes Rep. Wayne Rosenthal, ϳԹϾW Board of Trustees Chair and retired Brigadier General, Illinois Air National Guard, serving as master of ceremonies; Sgt. Grant Durham, ϳԹϾW student and United States Army Veteran providing remarks; ϳԹϾW Student Trustee Addy Blimling presenting the wreath; Dawon Drew, ϳԹϾW student, singing the national anthem; and Charles Walker, ϳԹϾW student, playing “Taps.”
The Veterans Day Ceremony is sponsored by ϳԹϾW Student Engagement and Wellbeing and honors all veterans including ϳԹϾW faculty, staff and students who served in the armed forces.
